Contacting Kai

Touching Kai with his hand Manon concentrates and thinks "Kai, what 
have happened to you?"

There is no response, and Kai continues turning his head, reversing
direction when it reaches one side, eyes locked in a thousand yard
scan of his surroundings, but seemingly oblivious to his friend, or 
the others in the chamber.

The stare is eerie, true, but nothing you haven't observed in Kai 
before, an absence of some guiding principle, perhaps, rather than necessarily
a new ensorcerelment.  The Hawk has never been a kind target for
casual observance, he seems by turns incredibly intense or 
unbelievably ethereal at all times.
