Social Games Descriptions
Overview: When I went to the uni, we played social games. Here are some of the games I remember best. If you want to play, go ahead. These games usually work if you find yourself living with other well chuffed people, remember not to force anyone to have fun.
Ktulu
"Ktulu" is a Polish advanced Mafia variant where different teams fight over possession of a statue (in addition of assassinating and lynching each other). It's not a published game, but the rules can be found online. I don't think it was ever translated into other languages.
Having played it, I very much enjoyed...
Toothbrush Killer
Overview: This game is a twist on Mafia. In Toothbrush Killer, one player is secretly the "killer" and wields a toothbrush as their weapon. This game is useful for student or work environments, because it starts when you enter the place where you live and pauses when you are away.
How to Play:
- Players: 5 or more.
- Setup: Each player chooses an "artefact" (e.g., a book, a toy) to represent themselves.
- Game Rules:
- Players play in the place of their inhabitat
- The "killer" is chosen secretly.
- Players take turns discussing or accusing others, trying to figure out who the killer is.
- The killer uses their toothbrush to "eliminate" players by gently tapping them while others are not looking.
- If you get tapped, you are out of the game.
- The goal is to identify the killer before everyone gets eliminated!
- Usually, it's fun to play max half academic year, otherwise it gets boring.
- If the game goes too slow, you may change rules: if you get tapped, you become another killer.
Corridor Activities
Overview: Engaging in group activities is a great way to build friendships and unity among students living together.
Common Activities:
- Discussion Club: Meet once a week to talk about interesting topics. This gets intresting if you can organize a speaker each week, and then you either talk about the subject or just have fun.
- Sports: Organize games like basketball or soccer once a week.
- Comedy Club: Share jokes and funny stories for some laughter.
- Fun Challenges: Create different activities each week to include everyone and keep the fun going.
How to Participate:
- Join the group that interests you the most.
- Suggest new activities or themes to keep everyone engaged.
- Make sure to include everyone for a sense of unity!
