Recipe: 00282 Title : Butter Pecan Turtle Bars Author: Kokkarinen Ilkka Date : August 1995 _________________________________________________________________________ Crust: 2 C Flour 1 C Brown Sugar 1/2 C Softened Butter 1 C Pecan Halves (or 1 C peanuts, chopped or smushed into 1/2s, 1/4s, whatever...) Caramel: 2/3 C Butter 1/2 C Brown Sugar 1 C Milk Chocolate Chips Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Crust: combine flour, sugar and butter; mix well. Pat firmly in 9"X13" pan; sprinkle nuts on top. Caramel Layer: In a heavy saucepan over medium heat cook butter and sugar, stir constantly; boil 1/2-1 minute. Pour evenly over crust. Bake 18-22 minutes or until layer is bubbly. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the top. Allow to melt 2-3 minutes (I used larger chunks from a milk-chocolate bar, and stuck the whole thing back into the still-warm oven to get faster results); swirl for marble effect. Cool completely before cutting. Makes 3-4 dozen. *The original recipe called for pecans, but since I can't stand 'em, I substituted peanuts, and was extremely pleased with the results, Snickers (TM) being my ab.fave chocobar. 8-) **Note: this recipe only has five ingredients! Tres Simple! Tres Yummy! -=-=-=-=-=-=- _________________________________________________________________________
