Recipe: 00267 Title : Fudgy Brownies I Author: Hal Render Date : August 1995 _________________________________________________________________________ - 4 oz. unsweetened chocolate - 2/3 cup butter or magarine - 2 cups sugar - 4 eggs - 1 tsp. vanilla - 1 & 1/4 cup flour - 1 tsp. baking powder - 1 tsp. salt - 1 cup nuts, chopped Preheat oven to 350F and grease a 13x9x2 baking pan. Melt chocolate and butter or margarine in a double boiler or a heavy sauce pan over low heat. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Beat sugar, eggs and vanilla together, and add melted chocolate; mix thoroughly. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together and add, stirring to mix. Stir in nuts. Pour into pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan. Cool and cut into squares. Substitution: use 3/4 cup cocoa instead of chocolate and increase butter to 1 cup. Melt butter, add cocoa and stir to form a smooth mixture. Continue as before.
