Recipe: 00192 Title : Peanut Butter Cups Author: S. Vijayalakshmi Date : June 1995 _________________________________________________________________________ Here is recipe that I tried with my room mate's (who is an expert in candy making) help some three years ago and they were quite close to the ones you get from the stores. Buy the milk chocolate pieces from a confectionary store. You will need a tray that has small conical shaped holes in it (actually the individual mould should be like a cone about 1/2 inch tall with diameter about 1 inch on one side and about 3/4 inch on the other side). Prepare the peanut butter mixture by adding enough (1-2 tbsp) white flour to approx 1/2 cup peanut butter. It should be like bread dough. Now heat about 2-3 cups of water and when it is between 60-70 C remove it from the stove and place the chocolate in a small bowl and hold the bowl in this hot water (I am sure there is a name for this procedure, water bath?). When the chocolate has melted, spoon the liquid in the mould by spreading it evenly to coat the individual holes. Put the tray in the freezer for 5-7 minutes so the chocolate is firm to touch and does not lose shape. Now fill in the peanut butter mixture as small balls or disks to about 3/4 of the mould and pour the remaining melted chocolate to cover the peanut butter entirely. Keep the tray in the freezer for 10-12 minutes or till the chocolate is firm and take the cups out carefully. Shave the edges to get clean cups. You can then put these in individual paper cups (those tiny silver or golden foil candy cups). -=-=-=-=-=-=- _________________________________________________________________________
