Chocolate Revel Bars 1 cups margarine or butter, softened 2-1/2 cups flour 2 cups packed brown sugar 2 eggs 4 tsp vanilla 1 tsp baking soda 3 cups Quaker oats 1-1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips 14 oz (1-1/4 cups) sweetened condensed milk 2 tbsp margarine or butter 1/2 cup chopped walnuts Beat one cup margarine with an electric mixer in a large bowl for 30 seconds. Add about half the flour, all the brown sugar, eggs, and 2 tsp of vanilla, and the baking soda. Beat on low speed until thoroughly mixed. Beat in the remaining flour. Stir in the oats. If your mixer will not mix this, use a wooden spoon and mix by hand. In a medium saucepan simmer the sweetened condensed milk, butter, and chocolate until the chocolate has melted and the mixture is smooth and homogeneous. Make sure to stir the mixture while heating it, and don't let the milk boil. Remove from the burner and add the remaining vanilla. Add the nuts if you like walnuts. Put 2/3 of the oat mixture (about 3-1/2 cups) into the bottom of an ungreased 15 x 10 x 1 inch baking pan. Spread the chocolate mixture over the oat mixture. Dot the chocolate with the remaining oat mixture. Bake at 350F for 25 minutes or until lightly golden. The chocolate should still appear moist. Cool on a wire rack and cut into pieces.
