SETMONO.CMD Version 0.0 - A CP/M-86 Monochrome Screen Attribute Setter Freeware from Kirk Lawrence (August, 1994) SETMONO allows you to easily reverse the default CP/M-86 screen attributes on a Herc-compatible or MDA monochrome video system. To set reverse-video mode (black-on-white): At the prompt, type SETMONO R ...then press the ENTER key. To set "normal" video mode (white-on-black): At the prompt, type SETMONO N ...then press the ENTER key. If SETMONO is invoked with a missing or invalid command line parameter, a summary of the syntax is printed to the screen. NOTE: SETMONO will only work with true Herc-compatible or MDA monochrome video systems. It will NOT function with MCGA, MEGA or MVGA. As SETMONO loads, it checks the active video adapter. If the active video card is not a Herc-com- patible or an MDA monochrome card, SETMONO will print an error message on the screen, and abort. Once set, reverse-video attributes will remain in effect until: 1) You change them by using SETMONO again. 2) Another program changes them. 3) You reboot the computer. 4) CP/M-86 generates an error message on the status line. 5) You issue a CTRL-BREAK command. Due to the way CP/M-86 was designed, the screen attributes default to white- on-black whenever the system encounters an error or a "break." If you wish, you may use this questionable "feature" to quickly normalize the screen attri- butes if you're in reverse-video mode: just press CTRL-BREAK at the prompt. If you find this program helpful, you may use it at no charge. As is always the case with "freeware," there are no guarantees whatsoever. If you use SETMONO.CMD, you do so strictly and entirely at your own risk and peril. Your use of SETMONO.CMD shall be deemed prima facie evidence under law that you understand and accept these terms and conditions.
