SETCOLOR.CMD Version 0.2 - A CP/M-86 Foreground & Background Color Setter Freeware from Kirk Lawrence (February, 1994) SETCOLOR allows you to easily change the default CP/M-86 background and foreground colors. At the prompt, type SETCOLOR then press the ENTER key. SETCOLOR tests for the presence of an active Herc-compatible or MDA monochrome video system. If found, SETCOLOR will abort with an appropriate error message. When SETCOLOR has loaded, you'll be presented with a menu of BACKGROUND colors to choose from, along with a sample of what the colors look like. Make your selection by pressing the NUMBER key (0 through 7) which corresponds to your choice, as shown on the screen...or press the ESC key to exit the program. Next, SETCOLOR changes the background to the color you selected, and then presents you with a menu of FOREGROUND color choices. Simply press the LETTER key (A through P) which corresponds to your choice, and the fore- ground will be changed to that color. On both menus, only keypresses which match the indicated choices will be accepted. If you press any other key, no action will be taken, and SETCOLOR will continue to wait for an appropriate keypress. The colors you select will remain in effect until: 1) You change them by using SETCOLOR again. 2) Another program changes them. 3) You reboot the computer. 4) CP/M-86 generates an error message on the status line. 5) You issue a CTRL-BREAK command. Due to the way CP/M-86 was designed, the screen colors default to white-on- black whenever the system encounters an error or a "break." If you wish, you can use this questionable "feature" to quickly restore the default white-on- black screen colors: just press CTRL-BREAK at the prompt. If you find this program helpful, you may use it at no charge. As is always the case with "freeware," there are no guarantees whatsoever. If you use SETCOLOR.CMD, you do so strictly and entirely at your own risk and peril. Your use of SETCOLOR.CMD shall be deemed prima facie evidence under law that you understand and accept these terms and conditions.
