INIT2 Version 0.0 - A Screen Initialization Utility for Dual-Monitor Systems Freeware from Kirk Lawrence CP/M-86 Edition If you're running two video cards and monitors (color and Herc monochrome) from your computer, INIT2 will save a lot of wear-and-tear on your monitors. When your computer first boots, it initializes ONLY the video adaptor which it recognizes as "primary." On a PC or XT class machine, this is the mono- chrome adaptor. On an AT class machine (286 and up), it's the color adaptor. The problem is this: because the "non-primary" (inactive) video adaptor isn't initialized at boot-up, its settings are essentially random...and it therefore mis-drives the monitor which is attached to it. This causes a great deal of stress on the monitor's scanning circuitry. On some systems, you can actually hear a high-pitched "whine" or "squeal" coming from the misdriven inactive monitor. Over time, this stress can possibly shorten the life of the monitor. INIT2 solves this problem. When executed, INIT2 instantaneously initializes BOTH video adaptors. Include "INIT2" as part of your power-on command line (use the CP/M-86 utility SETUP.CMD), and voil ...no more misdriven monitor. INIT2 is not a TSR (terminate-and-stay-resident) program, so it doesn't take up any memory. It simply does its job, then exits. INIT2.CMD is free. As is always the case with "freeware," there are no guar- antees whatsoever. If you use INIT2.CMD on any computer, you voluntarily do so entirely at your own risk and peril. Your use of INIT2.CMD shall be prima facie evidence under law that you understand and accept these terms and con- ditions.
