ETCHA Version 0.1 - Screen Sketching Program For IBM-Compatibles Freeware from Kirk Lawrence (September, 1995) ETCHA is a mindless but fun screen sketching program...much like those magnetic iron-filings sketch toys sold in toystores. ETCHA is universally compatible with all video systems, color or monochrome. ETCHA is designed for use on IBM-compatible computers, running "CP/M-86 For The IBM PC/XT, Version 1.1" (or higher). It may not work correctly under permutations of CP/M-86 designed for non- or semi-IBM-compatible machines. It also may not work correctly under CP/M-86+ or Concurrent CP/M-86. TO RUN THE PROGRAM: At the prompt, type ETCHA then press the ENTER key. Once inside the program, the following keys control the action: SPACEBAR = toggle between "drawing" and "non-drawing" mode LEFT ARROW = move left RIGHT ARROW = move right UP ARROW = move up DOWN ARROW = move down C = clear the current sketch, and start over ESC = end the program; exit to CP/M-86 These commands are printed on the program's status line at the bottom of the screen, for instant referral...so you don't have to remember them. ETCHA starts off, when first loaded, in "non-drawing" mode...as indicated by the small square cursor (þ). Use the ARROW keys to move the cursor to the screen position where you wish to start your drawing, then press the SPACE BAR to enable "drawing" mode. You may use the SPACE BAR to toggle between "drawing" and "non-drawing" mode whenever you like. You may "erase" lines by toggling "non-drawing" mode, and then tracing over previously-drawn lines with the small cursor (þ). NOTE: There's a slight "bug" in the way that ETCHA handles the 80th screen column (the far right-hand side of the screen). You can "draw" to the 80th column if you're moving to the right...but you can only "draw" to the 79th column if you're moving up, down, or left. This "bug" may be fixed in later versions of the program. But for now, it would be best to avoid "drawing" all the way over to the 80th column. ETCHA.CMD is free. As is always the case with "freeware," there are NO guarantees whatsoever. If you use the program, you do so entirely at your own risk and peril. Your use of ETCHA.CMD shall be prima facie evidence under law the you understand and accept these terms and conditions.
