SWAPLST.CMD - A CP/M-86 Printer Port Reassignment Utility. Allows you to "swap" the CP/M-86 default LST: device to printer port 0 or 1. Freeware from Kirk Lawrence (August, 1994) If your computer has two parallel (printer) ports installed, SWAPLST is a fast and easy way to assign either one of them as the default CP/M-86 LST: device. SWAPLST is much more convenient to use than the CP/M-86 "ASSIGN" utility. CP/M-86, when it first boots up, normally assigns parallel port 0 as the default LST: device, and all printer output is sent there. However, if you have TWO printer ports (0 and 1), with a printer attached to each of them...and you want to send printer output to the printer attached to port 1...SWAPLST makes it very simple to "swap" the CP/M-86 LST: device to printer port 1 (and back to printer port 0 again, if you wish). TO USE SWAPLST: At the prompt, type SWAPLST followed by the parallel port number (0 or 1) which you want to use as the default LST: device. For ex- ample: to switch the LST: device to parallel port 1, you'd type: SWAPLST 1 ...and then press the ENTER key. An on-screen message will tell you what action has been taken. Likewise, to switch the default LST: device back to parallel port 0, you'd type at the prompt: SWAPLST 0 ...and then press the ENTER key. If you invoke SWAPLST with an invalid or missing command line parameter, the program will print a reminder of the proper syntax on the screen, and then abort. SWAPLST is not a TSR (terminate-and-stay-resident) program, so it doesn't waste any of your computer's memory. It simply does its job, and then exits out of memory completely. The effects of SWAPLST are temporary. SWAPLST does not permanently alter the CP/M-86 default LST: device assignment. All actions generated as a result of using SWAPLST can be neutralized at any time by simply re-booting the computer. If you find SWAPLST.CMD helpful, you may use it at no charge. However, as is always the case with "freeware," you use this program entirely at your own risk and peril; there are no warrantees whatsoever. Your use of SWAPLST.CMD shall be prima facie evidence under law that you understand and accept these terms and conditions.
