PARK Version 0.3 - MFM/RLL Hard Disk Head Parking Utility Freeware from Kirk Lawrence PARK is a convenient way to "park" the heads of your hard disks, if they require software head parking to protect the data area. PARK.CMD can park most hard disks. The program gets the disk para- meters by calling function 8 of interrupt 13h. It then moves the heads directly to the highest available cylinder number, and leaves them there. PARK will park two hard disks, if two are installed in the system. If only one hard disk is installed, that one hard disk will be parked. After the heads are parked, an on-screen message tells you what action has been taken, and prompts you to turn off the power to the computer... or, to press a key if you wish to return to CP/M-86. NOTE: Only certain MFM and RLL hard drives require software head parking to protect the data area of the disk. Many MFM and RLL drives, and vir- tually all IDE and SCSI drives, are self-parking...they automatically ratchet to a non-data area of the disk when the power is turned off. It's not necessary to use PARK with a self-parking hard disk. If in doubt, consult your hard disk's instruction manual. PARK.CMD is free. As is always the case with "freeware," there are NO warrantees of any kind whatsoever. If you use this program, you do so entirely at your own risk and peril. Your use of PARK.CMD shall be prima facie evidence under law that you understand and accept these terms and conditions.
