==== Documentation for XMSTATS (C) UCS, inc. 1985 ==== FOR SYSOP'S EVERYWHERE!!! A Utility Program to Extract Operating Statistics from an XMODEM.LOG file by James A. Gronek Sysop, The Lost Dutchman's Gold Mine RCP/M Phoenix, Arizona (602)848-6708 300 - 1200 Baud, 24 Hours XMSTATS is Copyright (C) 1985 by UCS, inc. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED XMSTATS is a utility program for use by System Operators (SYSOP's) who operate systems utilizing the XMODEM file transfer program. XMSTATS will read the XMODEM.LOG file produced by XMODEM.COM and report utilization statistics back to the Sysop. Additionally, XMSTATS prepares TWO files from the XMODEM.LOG, UPLOADER.LOG and DNLOADER.LOG. The contents of these files is obvious. If you are using the WHATSNEW.COM method of reading the XMODEM.LOG, you may keep UPLOADER.LOG on-line (renamed to XMODEM.LOG) to show uploads. I found the statistics to be most enlightening, and I hope other Sysops find the program of equal use. Planned enhancements (further evolution??) include the following items: 1. Creation and maintenance of a USER database to monitor USER XMODEM activity (ala my earlier DBXMODEM). 2. Creation and maintenance of a FILENAME database to monitor FILENAME activity in the system (which files are most popular, and by how much, etc...). 3. Maintenance of a Chronological activity history database that each successive run of XMSTATS will update and make current. Comments are welcomed. JAG 06/24/1985
