** LIT.DOC ** Here is a simple way to convert a text file into a COM file which will display itself...Add this 'header' onto the front of your text file using PIP. That creates a new COM file which uses a BDOS function to display the text. Just make sure your text file has a '$' as its last character. For example, suppose you want to create a COM file which will display the message HELLO WORLD on your screen. Create a text file (WORLD.TXT) which contains the following... HELLO WORLD $ Now, use PIP to create the file WORLD.COM... pip WORLD.COM:=LIT.OBJ,WORLD.TXT That is all there is to it...When you run WORLD.COM, it will display the message... The source code for this program is very simple and was lifted from USER.ASM which appears in ZCMD29.LBR. I simply moved the stack to immediately follow the program code and added some fill characters (The fill characters may not really be needed, I just wanted to round out the sector for different application). --Phillip Hansford 9/86
