NOTES TO USERS OF THESE ACCOMPANYING TEMPLATES The author makes no claims regarding the accuracy of this software nor offers any warranties or gaurantees regarding any potential problems that might arise from the use of these templates. Schedule G is presented in such form that a printed copy of the completed template will suffice for inclusion in the tax return. It is not necessary to transcribe the figures to the official IRS form. Users of Schedule A who live outside of Michigan are advised to enter the table for sales tax deductions for their state replacing the tables for Michigan included in this template. Automatic calculation of the standard deduction for sales tax will result based on the information in these tables, the number of people in the family and the AGI along with other allowable additions requested in the heading of the template. Also, entering the code number for each account heading shown in the next several rows, in column A, the payee in column B, and the amount in column C will permit the totals for these items to be entered on the proper lines of Schedule A while providing the user with a permanent record of the details of these entries. Calculations on Schedule D will result in error messages if long term trans- actions are entered in the short term lines or short term transactions in the long term space. Several areas on Form 1040 require information to be entered in other areas with susequent calculations made and carried to the proper lines on the form. As an example, the user is unable to enter an amount for the marriage deduct- ion but must instead complete the information starting in column L. The results wil be carried to the proper lines. If an entry cannot be made into a protected cell, try to determine the reason for the cell being protected and the proper cell to make the entries. Before trusting any calculations in form 1040, be sure to recalculate the spreadsheet at least five times. This is required to resolve all the calculations that depend on results found in cells of higher rows or columns. Prompt reporting of any errors found in these templates would be appreciated greatly. Included also is a worksheet to assist in the preparation of the new W4 issued for the new withholding amounts. The name of this template is WORKSHT.W4. This is a supercalc2 template as are the others even if it does not have a .CAL extension. The full name is required when loading this template (ie. /L,WORKSHT.W4). The files in this library have been crunched (vs squeezed) to reduce the transmission time. A copy of UNCR.COM has been enclosed also, in the event a copy is not available to the user. Command format is UNCR d:*.?Z?. This will uncrunch all files with a "Z" in the second position of the filename extension. For the latest copy of UNCR.COM and all the proper referent materials, check the public domain depositories on the many bulletin boards. The inclusion herein, is for convenience only and in no way seeks to pre-empmt the author or any other legitimate distribution channels.
