TELE-PC, TELE-XT : ADDITIONAL MEMORY INSTALLATION The following instructions are provided to assist you in instal- lation of 256K RAM chips. In order to increase memory to over 512K, an add-on memory board is required. 1. Remove all the 64K RAM chips from the memory sockets. 2. Insert the 256K RAM chips in sockets: U68 and U69 U76 - U77 U85 - U86 U92 - U93 U100 - U101 U109 - U110 U118 - U119 U127 - U128 TOSHIBA part numbers = TMM41256-15 for 150ns * TMM41256-20 for 200ns * MOTOROLA preliminary part numbers = MCM6256-10 for 100ns * MCM6256-12 for 120ns * MCM6256-15 for 150ns * HITACHI prelininary part numbers = HM50256-12 for 120ns * HM50256-15 for 150ns * HM50256-20 for 200ns * * Do not mix 64K and 256K or speed of chips in the same unit. 3. Add one IC, multiplexer 74LS158 in socket U60. TI part number = SN74LS158N SIGNETICS part number = N74LS158N 4. Change the jumpers at board locations E10, E11 and E12: FOR 64K RAM CHIPS FOR 256K RAM CHIPS up to a maximum up to a maximum of 256K bytes total of 512K bytes total E10 E10 *_ _ * * * *_ _* E11 E11 *_ _ * * * *_ _* E12 E12 *_ _* * * *_ _* TELE-PC : VIDEO INTENSITY UPGRADE The main memory board at Revision C, available by RMA, has some enhancements to the video intensity for 16 different shades of grey. This upgrade has been incorporated in units which can be recog- nized by Revision B as part of the TeleVideo unit serial number (found on the foil TeleVideo serial number label on the drive case). Example: 1605 84040099B PCB Asy Logic Board part number = 123385-00 TELE-PC AND TELE-XT : SCREEN RESOLUTION For enhanced video resolution, the following adjustments may be made to adjust the screen size to 12 inches with a border. The following adjustments should only be made by a TeleVideo authorized technician. 1. Set the video B+ voltage at SFR 3 on the power supply to 60 volts. 2. Set the video display size to 8.7 inches horizontal and 5.9 inches vertical, using the height control knob (SFR 1 on the video board) and width control coil (L302). TELE-PC AND TELE-XT : VIDEO HARDWARE UPGRADE If you are experiencing video blurring or vibration, a Yoke Deflect Upgrade Kit is available to improve the video perfor- manace of some Tele-PC/Tele-XT units. Distributors can order the kit through a TeleVideo Regional Sales Office. Yoke Deflect Upgrade Kit part number = 130503-00
