FIELD BULLETIN NUMBER 19 May 1983 Various:Adding Expansion Memory Devices The TS 803, TS 1602G, and Remote Workstation Processor (RWP) have provisions for expanding on-board memory. To install the addi- tional memory devices, open the case assembly and remove the main logic board. The locations of sockets for the additional memory chips are as follows: TS 803: A1, A6, A16, A24, A29, A32, A39, A48 TS1602G: A31, A32, A35, A36, A39, A40, A43, A44, A47, A48, A51, A52, A55, A56, A60 RWP: A2, A9, A15, A23, A31, A37, A43, A50 The following are vendors and associated part numbers for com- patible RAM devices: Vendor Part No. Hitachi HM4684AP-20 Fujitsu MB8264M-20 OKI MSM3764-20RS Misubishi M5K4164NP-20 NEC UPD4164C-2 Intel 2164A-20 Motorola MCM6665AP-20 Mostek MK4564N-20 Toshiba TMM4164P-4 These part numbers are for devices in a plastic package. Com- parable ceramic package devices may also be used. TS 816/40:MAGNETIC SHIELD Because magnetic interference from the Winchester drive AC motor may affect operation, it is recommended that a sheild kit be in- stalled in TS 816/40 systems manufactured prior to March 1,1983. Part Number Description Required 2289000 Shield 1 2212900 Standoffs 2 To install the kit, remove the logic board from the system case. Install a standoff in the two holes in the opposite corners of the long side of the shield. Either side of the shield may face the componet board. Locate the two holes adjacent to connectors P1 and P1A on the solder side of the logic board. Install the assembled shield and standoffs into into the two holes. Reinstall the logic board in the system case. The two holes in the sheild should match up with the logic board mounting screw holes. TS 803:DEFAULTED FUNCTION OF SHIFTED F1 KEY Early production versions of the TS 803 contain a slash character '\ 'as the default function of the shift F1 key. The default function used in the TS 802, TS 802H, and TS 1603 systems for the shift F1 key is the accent character, ' ` '. This difference may affect certain software that users the default function of the shift F1 key. Perform the following patch if this problem occurs: 1. Run SYSGEN, entering 'A' for source drive, and a carriage return for destination drive. 2. Save the file with 'SAVE 52 CPMxx.COM', where xx is your ver- sion of CP/M. 3. Patch the following into the CP/M file with 'DDT CPMxx.COM' Address Before Patch After Patch 2E44 5C 60 4. Save the file with 'SAVE 52 CPMxx.COM'. 5. Run SYSGEN again, entering a carriage return for source drive, and an 'A' for destination drive. 6. Reset the system. The preliminary version of the TS 803 User's Manual, lists the '\' character as the default function of the shifted F1 key. After installing the patch, correct the TS 803 User's Manual to show a ' ` ' for that key. TS 802, TS 802H:INSTALLATION AND USER GUIDE ERROR The TS 802 Installation and User's Guide lists the ' \ ' charac- ter as the default function of the shifted F1 key. In the TS 802H Installation and User's Guide, the default function is listed as ' " '. The actual function for both of these systems is ' ` '. There is no need to install the above patch in the TS 802 or TS 802H software.
