SPCHK NOTES - 5/17/86 - Lawrence Davis Usage: SPCHK COMfile SPCHK is actually WHLCHK with a slight change. The purpose of WHLCHK was to alter a COMfile so it would check the ZCPR WHEEL byte and run the COMfile only if this byte was set. THis allowed a Sysop to keep needed COMfiles online without worry that a mischievious or curious user could do harm. SPCHK is specific to the QBBS bulletin board. It checks the special access byte at 10h and if set (FFh) it will allow the program to execute. This means that the Sysop can make certain COMfiles available to special access users. The abort message in WHLCHK was changed to say 'SPECIAL ACCESS REQUIRED' if the special access byte is not set.
