:W - Welcome message Welcome to the New PICS Test System Les Archambault - Sysop 300/1200/2400 bps detected at connect by a Courier 2400 Modem from US Robotics 8 bit characters, 1 stop bit, no parity, full duplex All information and activities on this system must be strictly legal. :B - printed for all users after login -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=[ BULLETINS ]=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- This is the Bulletins notice. It is printed for all callers after logging on the system. Press... "?" for menus and help CTRL-S to pause listings Keys within "<>" for commands CTRL-C to cancel listings The number at the first of each system prompt is your access time remaining. -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- :S - printed for unvalidated users trying to send (download) a file Sorry, but Unvalidated Users are not allowed to send (download) files. Please try again when you see that you have been validated by the Sysop. :A - printed when name not found If you are an old user, you may answer "N" to the following question to try again. If it has been some time since you last logged in, your name may have been purged from the active user list, and you will have to login as a new user. If you are a new user, please answer "Y". The system will prompt you for the city and state you are calling from and for a password (of your choice). Please use the two letter symbol for the state, for example: Albuquerque, NM. If you started your login process with a "handle", please answer "N" and login again with your real name. This will make it much easier for friends and associates to send you messages. :D - printed for unvalidated users Please remember to enter the following information which will be STRICTLY private and will not be used for any purpose other than validation (no mailing lists or the like): Name Address Phone number Intended use of this system :I - printed to new users and on "I" request -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=[ New User Information ]=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- Please take the time to read the following carefully: This Pascal Integrated Communications System was written by Les Archambault Foster City, Ca. and was developed from the program ROS 3.4 by Steve Fox. It is written for a CP/M 2.2 system as an integrated system using Turbo Pascal (from Borland International) with B+ tree indexed file support. Access to the operating system is not necessary for file transfer, since this is built into the system (see the File Transfer System menu). A user's guide to PICS is available in the LOGIN file area. This file, PICSUSR.DQC, may be either typed or downloaded using Xmodem protocol. If you have not used PICS before, please take the time to look at this file - many differences exist between PICS and older RBBS's. Unvalidated users will only be allowed 20 minutes per call. This should be enough time to get familiar with the system and determine whether or not you wish to become a fully validated user. No charges are ever made for this system, nor are donations even encouraged, but because attempts have been made to use the system improperly, REGISTRATION WILL BE REQUIRED FOR FULL ACCESS. Until this is done, ALL messages will be routed to the sysop and the number of files that can be accessed will be severely restricted (only the LOGIN file area will be available). Please enter a message to "SYSOP" (you may do this during the logout process) which contains your name, address, phone number, and your intended use of this system. This information will be STRICTLY private and will not be used for any purpose other than validation which is normally done in 48 hours. I apologize for any inconvenience these restrictions might cause you, but like locks on doors, it is necessary because of the few individuals that have abused the system. The first number in each system prompt indicates the amount of time available until the system will automatically log you out. Allow a couple of minutes to enter your validation message. -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- :P - printed for forgetful users Since you have exceeded the number of attempts allowed to enter your password correctly, you will be given the opportunity to leave a message and then the system will disconnect. If you are local, leave your phone number and I will try to get in touch with you. :M - Message system menu PICS - Message System Menu ======= Functions ======== ==== Other Menus ===== rticles to read ile transfer System ulletin tilities System hange message area nter a message nformation for new users ther systems list uick-scan messages ead messages can messages oodbye (logoff) :F - File transfer system menu PICS - File Transfer System Menu ==================== Functions ===================== === Other Menus === RC entry/exit ibrary entry/exit essage System hange file area ewin files list tilities System irectory of files Filesize/Time display ind File(s) eceive file using Xmodem protocol (you --> PICS) (with automatic 1k protocol checking by PICS) Receive Batch (more than 1 file. requires 1K protocol.) end file using Xmodem protocol-regular (PICS --> you) Send Xmodem 1K protocol (PICS --> you) Send Batch (more than 1 file. requires 1K protocol.) ype ASCII text or squeezed file (Xon/Xoff supported) oodbye (logoff) :Z - sysop entended files commands ame, visible/invisible, ete, :U - Utility system menu PICS - Utility System Menu ================== Functions ================== ==== Other Menus ===== lter user parameters ime and date ile Transfer System hat with sysop ser list essage System ystem use statistics our statistics oodbye (logoff) :C - Change user parameter help Alter User Parameter Menu ell after prompt on/off ines per page
