TERMINAL Version 0.5 A CP/M-86 Mini-Communications Program For IBM-Compatible Computers Freeware from Kirk Lawrence TERMINAL is a small, interrupt-driven terminal program which allows you to access a modem on any of the four COM ports recognized by the IBM-compatible computer. TERMINAL has file download capability, using XModem-CRC protocol. Because of its simplistic nature and lack of buffering, TERMINAL will not work with modems operating at speeds over 2400 baud. Still, it can be use- ful when a simple, easy-to-use, compact communications program is required. TERMINAL displays in color on a color video system, yet is 100% compatible with all monochrome systems. TERMINAL does not initialize the port. Before using the program, it may be necessary to run the CP/M-86 utility CONFIG.CMD, or a third-party utility, to initialize and configure the COM port to your desired parameters. All commands sent to the modem, itself, must be manually entered as "AT" commands...so a knowledge of standard modem commands is necessary. Syntax: TERMINAL x ...where "x" represents the COM port number of the modem (1, 2, 3 or 4). COMMANDS: F1 displays help. ALT-C clears the screen. ALT-D initiates XModem-CRC file download. ALT-Q exits the program, and returns to CP/M-86. When initiating a file download (ALT-D), you'll be prompted to enter the file name to download. Type in the file name and press ENTER...or press ESC at any time to abort the process. The file name text-entering capability is rather crude. Only alpha-numeric characters are allowed in the file name. If the file name you enter con- tains ANY non-alpha-numeric characters...INCLUDING a backspace...TERMINAL will prompt you to re-enter the file name. => NOTE: Drive letters and user area numbers are NOT supported when entering the file name. The downloaded file can only be received on the currently- logged (default) drive, and in the currently-logged (default) user area. TERMINAL checks to see if the file name you specified to download already exists. If it does, TERMINAL will open that file, and over-write it. If the file does not exist, TERMINAL will create it, then proceed with the XModem-CRC download. TERMINAL does not have file upload capability. ANSI sequences are not supported. Any ANSI codes received from the remote system are displayed to the screen, as received. TERMINAL.CMD is free. As is always the case with "freeware," there are no guarantees whatsoever. If you use the program, you do so entirely at your own risk and peril. Your use of TERMINAL.CMD shall be prima facie evidence under law that you understand and accept these terms and conditions.
