GEM Binary Distribution Robert Avis June 1999 This directory contains the disk images for the commercial distribution of GEM 2.2. To make a disk set, execute gem22make.com. It will require 6 disks. If this program fails, unzip files gm22dsk1.zip to gem22dsk6.zip inclusive onto disks (density higher than 330kb) Label disks (physically) as follows (this will be useful during setup): DISK1 GEM System Master Disk DISK2 GEM Device Drivers Disk #1 DISK3 GEM Device Drivers Disk #2 DISK4 GEM Device Drivers Disk #3 DISK5 GEM Device Drivers Disk #4 DISK6 GEM Device Drivers Disk #5 **NOTE** During installation, the setup program will ask you what mouse you have. If you have a PS/2 port mouse, I have had best results using the 'Bus Mouse (needs MOUSE.COM)' option. For this to work, you will need a blank disk, and put on it MOUSE.COM. This can be any version (Microsoft, Logitech, etc.) but must be called MOUSE.COM. Later in intallation it will ask you for various DOS files. To prepare for this, copy the files: COMMAND.COM (from root directory) MODE.COM }(From DOS directory, or FORMAT.COM }WINDOWS\COMMAND in W95) onto a disk. (I should use the same one as for MOUSE.COM). You do not need to set any disk labels with GEM 2.2 To run the setup program, insert disk 1 and execute the program GEMPREP. (comments/queries to robert.avis@virgin.net)
