DIF Version 2.1



     Version 2.1 is a compact version of DIF (9 7/8 K instead of
14 3/8 K) based upon Chuck Forsberg's Version 2.0.  Version 2.1
differs functionally from Version 2.0 in the following respects:

    1. DIF V2.1 does not support pipes;

    2. If the files being compared are identical and output is
       redirected to a file, DIF V2.1 will not delete the
       (empty) difference file.

     For those interested, the size reduction was obtained by
using Software Toolworks's C/80 C compiler and a tight run-time
library.


			DIF Version 2.2


     Version 2.2 is functionally equivalent to Version 2.1 but
runs approximately 25% faster.
