Several programs for this excellent compiler are stored in the TPASCAL file area. Feel free to download these files and to upload any others you have found useful. If you are using Turbo Pascal, you may be interested in the Turbo User Group which publishes a bi-monthly magazine of hints, bugs, insights, and tutorials. The magazine is not large, but the material is worthwhile. Membership is $20.00. The address is: Turbo User Group (TUG) P.O. Box 1510 Poulsbo, Washington USA 98370 :2 ROS Features The following briefly describes the features of ROS, a complete, integrated message and file transfer system: General features: o Written entirely in Turbo Pascal, ROS does not require other support routines such as BYE, XMODEM, etc. o Fast user file access using B+ trees. o File and message access controlled by an access level assigned to each individual user. o Provides protected system even without ZCPR. o All functions selected by a single keystroke. User functions: Multiple message areas Send and receive files using Xmodem protocol (checksum and CRC) File directory (sorted with file sizes/transfer time) Full library file support Automatically unsqueeze files when typing Enter, read, and delete public and private messages Automatic display of special bulletins Provisions for display of nine selectable bulletins, system information, other local remote systems, and news Chat (with restricted times) Change user parameters Prompt bell disable/enable Display current time and date and time on/time remaining Display users Sysop functions: Purge and delete users Edit user file Print activity log and messages Re-build index file Pack message file Local (console) login capability Local commands to blank remote display, disable remote user, and initiate chat :3 - bulletin ROS version 3.3 will be available for download starting on August 25th. Thanks for Jacques Durosier and Chris DeBracy for beta testing the system and for their ideas and encouragement. :O - printed at "O" request -=*=- -[ Remote Computer Systems in the Albuquerque Area ]- -=*=- Name Baud Number Sysop Hours System -------------- ---- -------- -------------- -------------- ------ Academy BBS 300 296-4887 Brian Langdon 8pm-10am daily C64 ABQ Kaypro 12/3 291-0418 Marion Wilde 24 hr CP/M ABQ PC-BBS 12/3 296-7672 John Maio 24 hr PC ABQ PCjr Fido 12/3 898-2116 Adam Hudson 24 hr PCjr ABQ RCP/M 12/3 299-5974 Steve Fox 24 hr CP/M ALPUG BBS 300 821-6119 Nate Crain 24 hr PC Applequerque 300 266-7294 Marty Lavens 24 hr Apple CBM BBS 300 822-1159 Bo Farley 24 hr C64 Datacom BBS 300 265-1445 ? 9pm-6am ? If it has been some time since you last logged in, your name may have been purged from the active user list, and you will have to login as a new user. If you are a new user, please answer "Y". The system will prompt you for the city and state you are calling from and for a password (of your choice). Please use the two letter symbol for the state, for example: Albuquerque, NM. If you started your login process with a "handle", please answer "N" and login again with your real name. This will make it much easier for friends and associates to send you messages. :D - printed for unvalidated users Please remember to enter the following information which will be STRICTLY private and will not be used for any purpose other than validation (no mailing lists or the like): Name Address Phone number Intended use of this system :I - printed to new users and on "I" request -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=[ New User Information ]=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- Please take the time to read the following carefully: A hayes compatible smartmodem automatically detects the transmission rate of 300 or 1200 bps at answer. This Remote Operating System (ROS) was written by Steve Fox using Turbo Pascal (from Borland International) with B+ tree indexed file support. Access to the operating system is not necessary for file transfer, since this is built into the system (see the File Transfer System menu). A user's guide to ROS is available in the LOGIN file area. This file, ROSUSR.DQC, may be either typed or downloaded using Xmodem protocol. If you have not used ROS before, please take the time to look at this file - many differences exist between ROS and older RBBS's. Unvalidated users will only be allowed 20 minutes per call. This should be enough time to get familiar with the system and determine whether or not you wish to become a fully validated user. No charges are ever made for this system, nor are donations even encouraged, but because attempts have been made to use the system improperly, REGISTRATION WILL BE REQUIRED FOR FULL ACCESS. Until this is done, ALL messages will be routed to the sysop and the number of files that can be accessed will be severely restricted (only the LOGIN file area will be available). Please enter a message to "SYSOP" (you may do this during the logout process) which contains your name, address, phone number, and your intended use of this system. This information will be STRICTLY private and will not be used for any purpose other than validation which is normally done in 48 hours. I apologize for any inconvenience these restrictions might cause you, but like locks on doors, it is necessary because of the few individuals that have abused the system. The first number in each system prompt indicates the amount of time available until the system will automatically log you out. Allow a couple of minutes to enter your validation message. A question mark ("?") entered at most prompts will display additional help and menus. -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- -=*=- :P - printed for forgetful users Since you have exceeded the number of tries allowed to enter your password correctly, you will be given the opportunity to leave a message and then the system will log you out. If you will leave your name and phone number, I will try to get in touch with you. Please remember to enter your name in the message since it is not being saved.
