SWV20 Version 1.1 Copyright 1987 Thomas M. Langley All Rights Reserved SWV20 ˙˙is ˙a ˙driver for the NEC ˙V-Series ˙microprocessors ˙that enables ˙the ˙8 ˙bit emulation mode of the device and ˙creates ˙an environment ˙that ˙emulates a superset of the 8 bit CP/M. ˙˙SWV20 runs ˙on any V20 ˙or V30 ˙equipped microcomputer ˙running ˙C/M-86, MP/M-86, ˙Concurrent CP/M-86, Concurrent DOS-86 ˙or Concurrent PC- DOS. ˙SWV20 ˙can operate as SW! ˙in a CompuPro environment and be automatically invoked ˙by the system shell during program ˙search. The ˙program ˙operating ˙in the 8 bit environment ˙has ˙access ˙to nearly ˙all ˙of ˙the ˙function ˙calls ˙available ˙under ˙the ˙host operating system, thus far more than normally available under CP/M version 2.2. Installation: To install SWV20, copy the SWV20.CMD file, the SWV20I.BAT file and the *.INP ˙files onto your hard disk or second floppy and log onto that drive. Next, make sure that sid86 ˙or ddt86 is present on the a drive and that ˙it's ˙user number is 0 (root directory for a DOS disk), and enter SWV20I swname [C] swname is the command name to be used for the new SWV20 use SW! for CompuPro. C if entered (the [] means it's optional and should not be entered) means this is for a CompuPro system. The batch file will create the file swname.CMD Now for all systems except CompuPro, ˙load each 8 bit program onto your system and change the .COM extension to .CPM. ˙For ˙CompuPro systems, ˙˙copy the .COM program onto your system and run the 8BIT utility ˙supplied with Concurrent DOS-816 ˙to set the proper ˙file attributes. ˙˙That's all there is to it. ˙To run a program enter the ˙program name you gave SWV20 ˙and the CP/M command line. ˙For example: to run the 8 bit program ddt on test.com and you gave the program the name SWV20 ˙you would enter - SWV20 DDT TEST.COM. For CompuPro systems, ˙there is no need to enter the SW! ˙program name just ˙enter ˙DDT ˙TEST.COM and the system ˙shell ˙will ˙internally invoke ˙SW! ˙˙when ˙it detects that the request is for ˙an ˙8 ˙bit program. NOTE for CompuPro Systems: ˙When setting up the COMPUPRO switch programs, ˙assume an 8085/8088 system UNLESS you are using SPU-Z ˙in ˙which ˙case ˙there is no need for ˙SWV20. ˙˙There ˙are additional ˙switch ˙programs ˙involved if you have ˙various ˙slave processors ˙installed in your system. ˙You can install SWV20 ˙˙in place ˙of SW!8085 ˙that came with your system. ˙You can use SWV20 with the CPU-8085/88 board or CPU-8086/87.
