<I for one thought this was pretty funny. B1FF anyone?> [ Article crossposted from alt.security.pgp ] [ Author was Glenn P. ( 74127.1457@CompuServe.COM ) ] [ Posted on 13 Sep 1994 08:50:25 GMT ] PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, don't laugh at me! I'm new to the Internet. I have encountered numerous references to "PGP", and I think it's a MARVELOUS idea! BUT..... I use a Commodore-128. Those who know what this is will know my problem at once; those who don't know what this is will either have heard of it and then sneered at it, or else won't know what it is at all. Basically, it's a measely 64K 8-bit micro. The versions of PGP I've encountered here on CompuServe are all for IBM, and are approximately 222,000 bytes. That's FAR too large for my computer, and of course since it's the wrong system, it wouldn't work anyway. PLEASE DON'T LAUGH: Is it possible for at least the "bare-bones" functions of PGP to be reduced to a BASIC program of no more than about 31,000 bytes? Yes, I *know* that's a tall order... but then, PGP should be for EVERYONE... right??? Is such a thing even possible? Is anyone willing to undertake such a daunting challenge??? -- Glenn P.
